Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D.


Following the film, Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) at NIH, led a discussion and took questions from the audience. Dr. Collins leads a research team in planning the mapping and sequencing of the human genome. He was previously a professor of internal medicine and genetics and an investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Michigan. He has received numerous awards for his research into cystic fibrosis, neurofibromatosis, and Huntington's chorea.
